Music, music, mucic

Yet again a wonderful time was had by all at the  Ripley Salvation Army on Tuesday (June 10th 2014) , the theme this week was music and everyone had been invited to bring an instrument, there was all kinds of things. Drums, guitars, mouth organs, whistles, shakers, xylophone, post horn, plenty to go round.

I  read from scripture of how music played an important part in worship and it still does today. However if we are not careful we can get caught up in music and forget who it is that we are worshiping, after all worship is about God not about the music, or the musicians, or the worship leader.  I read the story behind Matt Redman’s,  The Heart of Worship
I’ll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You’re looking into my heart
I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about You
It’s all about You, Jesus
When we come together to worship God we come as a body of believers united in Christ Jesus to bring our sacrifice of praise and worship.
God isn't listening to see if we've got the tune right, or making sure we're not singing flat He’s looking within the heart to see what our motive and attitude is.
Psalm 150
Praise the Lord!
1Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
2 Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!
The act of worship isn't just about making music to the Lord when we meet together, we are to worship God everyday in the way that we live our lives. But how wonderful it is to come together and worship God on instruments. We may not all be able to play an instrument but most of us do have a voice, and we can praise God with our voices, after all it is a God given instrument!
24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
