Hilary led our meeting today, first we had a game, there were a few
prizes to be had, two teddies, a pink pony that had a torch on her tummy, a
photo frame, a lovely scarf with scripture on it, and a mystery prize.
She had put
the names of the ladies in her hat twice, and I passed the hat around and they
took it in turns to pull out a name. But the game wasn't over when all the
prizes had been claimed, in fact you could 'take' someone else's prize, which
although led to disappointment also led to much laughter as the prices sped
across the room from one person to another, it was great fun. Some of the
ladies donated their prizes to the army for the Christmas fair. The mystery
prize went around the room at a fast pace, at the end the lady that won it very
kindly gave it to me, it was a hand knitted tee-shirt with the helping hands
house on the back.
The point of the game Hilary said was to show how temporal earthly things
are, and that you can soon lose them or have them taken away but salvation is a
different matter, it is neither a lottery or a gamble. When we are in Christ
no one can take us from Him whilst ever we walk in His will and stay close to
Him.
Romans 8:35-39 Who shall
separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation,
or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it
is written: “For Your sake
we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him
who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor
principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height
nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the
love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Whatever you are going through, whatever your
circumstances or situation remember, if you are in Christ and trusting in Him, then nothing can take
you from Him.
