Let the music play

We had a guest speaker this week (03.03.20) who brought along some music for us to listen to, we had to say what it reminded us of. We also shared some of our favourite songs. Music plays an important role in everyone’s lives, it evokes memories, creates memories, it can uplift us, or it can bring us quite low.

Music is good for not only our physical wellbeing but for our mental wellbeing too, it is certainly good therapy for anxiety and depression, and a host of other things too.

As Christians music is important to us because it helps us to praise and worship God, not just when we are together but also when we are alone with the Lord. Many times, we find that during the day a song of praise will be stirring in our hearts, a song of thanksgiving and adoration to our Saviour, Jesus, and to our Father.

When we are together not only does it glorify and honour God, but it also lifts us up, and builds up the church. We are to worship God in spirit and in truth.

David wrote many psalms that were put to music and were used for praise and worship of the congregation and privately.

Psalm 95

O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.
The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.
O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.
