Major
Ruth took our meeting today, and the theme was love, there were various quizzes,
we also wrote a loving affirmation about the person sitting next to us, using
the letters of their first name, we were greatly encouraged by the things that
people said about us.
Major Ruth talked about
strength and courage, and how we often are surprised at how we can do things,
which we normally would say about, “I couldn't do that" when we read of
some heroic story. But we can and we do, but our strength and courage comes
from the Lord and not of ourselves. There are certain situations were-by we
give no thought for ourselves but only for the person who is need of our aid,
and it is quite amazing what we can do.
Deuteronomy 31
6 “Be strong and
courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord
your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
You don’t know what you can do until you try, when you step out in faith, trusting and knowing that the Lord of
all the earth is with you.
Love, said Major Ruth, is the strongest tie, in families, in friendships,
marriages etc, but the greatest love is that love that God has for all mankind,
John 3:16
For God so loved
the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life.
When we repent of
our sin, and believe in the Lord Jesus, then we are born again, God’s love is
not only a true love, but an everlasting love.
Jesus, showed His
love for the world by dying on the cross and taking the punishment for every sinner’s,
sin. And for those who believed in Him, He prayed for them, not only the
disciples that were with Him at that time, but for every believer that was to
come, and that is you (if you are saved) and I.
John 17: 20-23
“I do
not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me
through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in
Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe
that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them,
that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they
may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me,
and have loved them as You have loved Me.
The red
rose is a symbol of love, and Major Ruth gave each member of the home league a
red rose not only as a reminder of God's love for each and everyone, but also
that we are part of God's family, and we are each loved by every member.
God loves you, and I love you,
and that
is the way it should be.
We sang
this little chorus at the end of our meeting.
